The Magic Of A Well Wrapped Festive Gift
There's something magical about a beautifully wrapped gift under the Christmas tree. The anticipation, the ribbons, the carefully folded paper — it's all part of the experience. Whether you're wrapping for family, friends, or a Secret Santa, a little extra effort goes a long way.
At Made Paper Co, we design our Christmas collections as cohesive looks, with wrapping paper, gift tags, ribbons and cards that all work together.
Here are our tips on how to make your festive gifts look extra special under the Christmas tree this year.
Choose Your Christmas Wrapping Paper
The foundation of any beautifully wrapped gift is great paper. This Christmas we have a range of festive designs to suit every style:
- Playful and fun — Rudolph collection
- Rich and cosy — Mulled Wine or Chestnut & Spice

Finish It Off: Gift Tags & Ribbons
The finishing touches are what really elevate a wrapped gift and we recommend matching your gift tags and ribbon / twine to your gift wrapping for a really cohesive, put-together look for under the tree. Even better - match your gift wrap look to your tree decorations!
We have some beautiful gift tag sets to choose from this Christmas including:
- Nice List gift tags — 20pk in red, blush, toffee and gold for a warm, celebratory feel
- Merry Xmas gift tags — 20pk in mulled wine, blush, white and rose gold for an elegant, festive finish
We're also very excited to be stocking beautiful Italian-made ribbon from Studio Carta. The loose-weave metallic ribbon and thinner tight weave cotton ribbons are particularly stunning for Christmas. Choose from rose gold, copper, blush and gold, red and gold, wine and pine green, all of which tie-in wonderfully with this season's wrap designs and gift tags.
Step-by-Step: How to Wrap Christmas Presents
Step 1: Get Organised Before You Start
Set up a dedicated wrapping station with everything you need — paper, scissors, tape (double sided is best), ribbons, twine, and gift tags. Wrapping in batches is much more efficient (and more fun with a Christmas playlist on).
Step 2: Measure Twice, Cut Once
Lay your gift face-down on the paper and allow a decent overlap on all sides. A clean, straight cut makes a huge difference to the finished result.
Step 3: Wrap and Tape Neatly
Fold the long sides first, then create neat triangular folds at each end. Use double-sided tape for a clean, professional finish with no visible tape lines.
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
Now for the ribbon or twine - have a play here, twine can look great double wrapped around smaller presents. To use less ribbon try wrapping around the gift and securing underneath with double sided tape - no bow. Attach a gift tag and you're done.
Christmas Wrapping Ideas by Recipient
Gifts for Kids
Go bold and playful — the Rudolph collection or Ho Ho Ho designs are always a hit. Don't stress too much about perfection; kids love the unwrapping experience regardless!
Gifts for Her
Refined and considered — try Chestnut & Spice or Mulled Wine with a luxurious metallic ribbon and a handwritten tag in a feminine colour like rose gold. The details matter.
Gifts for Him
Keep it clean and sharp — Tartan or Pine Green with simple twine and a gift tag looks effortlessly stylish.
Corporate and Secret Santa Gifts
Consistent, polished wrapping makes a great impression. Pick one paper design and wrap everything the same way — it looks intentional and professional. Keep it fun - the Rudolph wrap would be a good one for this.
Pro Tips for Stress-Free Christmas Wrapping
- Wrap early — don't leave it all to Christmas Eve! Wrapping a few gifts each week in December is far less stressful. Plus you get to see it all looking beautiful under the tree for longer
- Label as you go — attach your gift tags immediately so you don't end up with a pile of mystery presents.
- Keep a wrapping kit — store your paper, tape, scissors, twine and ribbons together so you're always ready to wrap.
- Reuse and repurpose — encourage recipients to save ribbons, they're too good to throw away after one use.
